Exploring Our Relationship
Through photography documentation I was able to explore the dialogue between me and the Rock. I have been able able to use the rock as a tool of tension and conversation by framing and investigation.
I wanted to capture the evolving relationship between the Rock and I, which I do believe I have become successful at. I have been able to identify the qualities of weight, texture and form compared to my body during and also after, the Photoshoot.
I have been able to capsulate the serious, but also playful relationship between me and the rock.
The other relationship that was explored was the one between the photographer and myself. The photographer is a fellow peer and also a friend. Ben became the icebreaker of the session. He was able to see the relationship of the rock and I blossom into something more abstract and not so literal. He used instructions to conduct the session, using phrases such as “become the rock!... you are the rock!”. Although it sounds humorous, it did encourage me to form a parallel bond. Becoming equals.
